Provençal in character, the city of Veynes is located in the heart of the Petit Buëch valley. The town is located on the right bank of the Petit Buëch along the Glaisette, sheltered from the Eygaux mountain. The more than 3000 Veynois can enjoy many charming alleys, ideal for cooling off in the shade of the sun on sunny days. These same typhoid alleys will serve as a prologue for the Sud Raid Adventure Race on Sunday August 22. Veynes will also host the start at the Plan d’Eau des Iscles, hunting, determined by the result of the prologue and also the arrival in the city center on the forecourt of the Town Hall. An award ceremony will also be held in the heart of the most Provençal commune of the Hautes-Alpes.
Christian Gilardeau-Truffinet, the Mayor of the town, expresses “This is an opportunity for our territory to find itself in the limelight not only on the purely sporting aspect, but also in terms of heritage promotion”.
Particularly active in the organization, elected officials, the city’s sports department and the OMS of Veynes (Municipal Sports Office), explain the summer calendar to us. “The City of Veynes will open its summer season with Le Défi de Veynes, Cross-triathlon round which will serve this year as a full-scale test to host the 2022 French Championship and will close it with the Sud Raid Adventure Race, a particularly sporting summer for our municipality! […] In parallel with the Sud Raid Adventure Race, the elected officials have planned a commission and numerous meetings to best welcome the competitors and offer a series of activities for these sporting but also festive days “.
